Anna and I shared some lovely moments in Domplatz, where Dom St. Peters stands regally on cobblestoned streets, and we took quiet walks along the Donau and on the old Stone Bridge. But spending time with Anna made me realize that I wanted to see more of the world beyond my garden plot, and even Regensburg. Stephan and Veronika were kind enough to have me as a traveling companion in Mannheim and Prague. The first leg of our journey, of course, was a marvelous car ride to Mannheim, where Stephan and Veronika live.

Even though I love Anna, and love spending time with her, there's not much one can do when
one has a serious case of Wanderlust. I spent a few days with Anna in Regensburg.
This is the car that Stephan rented from the car
agency, and somehow, everyone's belongings (and Kelly) managed to fit into the car. As
long as there was room for me--and I travel lightly--I just take my sleeping bag and
go--and my clothes are pretty durable and stand up to just about anything. I was soaking
up some rays--rare during the month of September 2001 in Regensburg and Bavaria.
